RemoteRadTech Announces Collaboration with University Hospitals to Deliver Remote MRI Scanning Services, Reducing Wait Times and Expanding Access to Advanced Imaging

Miami, FL, March 31, 2026, RemoteRadTech (RRT), a provider of remote MRI and CT scanning services, today announced a new agreement with University Hospitals (UH), a leading academic health system in Ohio, to deliver remote MRI scanning across multiple sites. The collaboration represents a significant step forward in how academic institutions are addressing radiologic technologist shortages while improving patient access to advanced imaging.

Initial implementation began at UH Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio, where early results demonstrated meaningful operational and financial impact. Based on this success, UH has accelerated the rollout to additional facilities, including UH Parma Medical Center, with further expansion planned for UH Cleveland Medical Center in the coming months.

Preliminary data from the first 100 scans performed using RRT’s remote scanning model show:

  • Approximately $50,000 in additional revenue generated.

  • A 50% reduction in patient wait times.

These improvements directly address staffing shortages, which are one of the most pressing challenges facing radiology departments nationwide. Staffing shortages among radiologic technologists continue to create backlogs, delay diagnoses, and increase pressure on existing teams. Remote scanning offers a scalable solution that enables healthcare systems to increase throughput, improve patient access, and support their workforce more effectively.

“Remote scanning is an exciting new model of care delivery, and adoption is accelerating rapidly across the United States,” said Dr. Flávio Lanes, Founder and CEO of RemoteRadTech. “We are seeing leading academic institutions like University Hospitals, as well as smaller commercial providers, embracing this approach to address technologist shortages and improve patient care.”

“We’re expanding access in a way that keeps patients at the center of all we do,” said Missie Wallace, M.Ed., R.T.(R), FACHE, Vice President of Radiology, University Hospitals. “Through innovation and teamwork, we are reducing wait times, and ensuring patients receive high-quality imaging close to home. At the same time, we are supporting care teams with smarter workflows that allow them to focus on what matters most, delivering an exceptional experience for every patient we serve.”

The rollout at UH Ahuja Medical Center has already shown meaningful impact by increasing MRI capacity and cutting wait times in half. Remote scanning has enabled UH to provide more timely access to critical imaging, supporting better-informed clinical decisions.

As part of the agreement, RRT will continue expanding services across UH facilities, supporting both immediate capacity needs and long-term operational resilience. Additional data on the clinical, operational, and financial impact of the program will be presented later in 2026.

Remote scanning enables certified, experienced radiologic technologists to operate MRI and CT scanners from a secure off-site location using FDA-cleared technology. This model allows health systems to increase capacity, reduce staffing gaps, and maintain high standards of care without requiring on-site technologist staffing for every scan.
